Tuvan Throat Singer

This is Kongar-ol Ondar, a famous Tuvan throat singer.  Throat singing has been around for many centuries, and is practiced by many Mongolian related peoples, particularly the Tuvans, but Mongolians, Altains, and Buryats also throat sing. The Tuvans are a Turkic/Mongol people who live in the Republic of Tuva, which is located immediatly west of the Irkutsk Region.  At our wedding in Ulan-Ude we had a couple of Buryat throat singers sing at our reception.  This is a particularly good example, with a David Letterman intro, so enjoy.  If you like what you hear, and would like somemore, I have several good albums of ethnic music from across Siberia.
